A motorcycle accident is different from most other vehicular accidents because one vehicle (car, truck, van) is usually much larger than the bike and the motorcycle is often difficult to see in certain situations. The driver of the larger vehicle has the whole vehicle around them to protect them to some extent, and possibly airbags and other safety equipment. The motorcyclist has only his helmet, if wearing one, clothing and the great possibility of the bike landing on top of him in an accident.
Motorcyclists, like all drivers at some time, do things that can create a motorcycle accident. They will drive in the breakdown lanes and curve in and out of traffic lanes on the highway and sometimes follow too closely. Every group in the country has its share of bad drivers though and automobile drivers don’t always keep a good lookout for a smaller vehicle until it is too late, they cut motorcycles off, and they don’t give them any leeway when they should. The motorcycle it seems sometimes is not treated with as much courtesy as the bicycle is.
However a motorcyclist injured in a motorcycle accident is more likely to be severely injured and may even be killed. The majority of motorcyclists obeys the rules of the road and are often injured by other vehicles that are not doing the same. An 18 wheel truck should be able to see a motorcycle and of course the biker should see him yet many of these are accidents are statistically the truckers’ faults.
A motorcycle rider or passenger who has been injured in an accident need to seek legal help from a firm that understands the difficulties they face in relation to other vehicles on the road. A rider should consult an attorney bringing with him/her a good idea of the facts of the incident and the medical information regarding their injuries. Call Attorney Robert Brenner at 1-800-669-7700 and sit down with him and discuss what happened. He will advise on the next step you should take.
